A Study on the Difference in Safety Culture Perceptions by the Characteristics Related to Occupational and Safety Education of Employees of Elderly Care Facilities

Abstract
This quantitative study examines the differences in patient safety culture perceptions by the characteristics related to occupational and safety education of elderly care workers. The subjects of this study were 334 workers employed in eight elderly care facilities located in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. The results of this study show that there was a statistically significant difference of patient safety culture perception in variables of managerial leadership, job attitude, organizational system, and management activities of work type among occupational characteristics. According to the results of the characteristics of safety education, there were statistically significant differences of patient safety culture perception in managerial leadership, job attitude, management activity areas in the safety education cycle for the last 1 year; in managerial leadership and management activities areas in the required safety education; in management activities areas in the accident reporting experience in the last 1 year; in the managerial leadership, job attitude, organizational system, and management activity areas in the overall evaluation of safety management.
